Our Story

We like burgers – always have and always will. But we also love this planet. Like, a lot. And that’s where Wise Boys all began.

We said goodbye to our desk jobs, built a food truck out of recycled materials, and started serving indulgent burgers no one felt guilty about eating.

From day one, sustainability has been at the heart of everything we do. Our handmade patties are 100% plant-based, all our sauces are made in house too, and our packaging? 100% plastic. Yeah, na, it’s fully compostable.

The burgers are also delicious – and we’re not the only ones who think so. We were finalists in the 2018 Sustainable Business Network Awards, picked up a silver medal in the 2019 Outstanding NZ Food Producers Award for our aioli and won a place in the Good Food Boost mentoring programme a few years back. Our aioli and mayo have also found their way into a range of boutique stores and supermarkets across the country. Keep an eye out for new supermarket stockists with our goods!

In May 2019, the inaugural Wise Boys store opened in Grey Lynn, and thanks to the great New Zealanders who also love burgers and this beautiful planet, store number two opened one year later in Downtown Auckland.

So what’s next? More burgers, a happier Earth and then probably more burgers.
