HUMBLE BEGINNINGS
Wise Boys started with a dream: plant-based burgers with no compromise on fun or flavour.
Originally founded by brothers Luke and Tim, the journey started when they switched to vegetarian diets and struggled to find indulgent plant-based options that truly satisfied. Determined to change that, they left their corporate careers, built a food truck from recycled materials, perfected their house-made patties and sauces, and started serving burgers across Auckland.
What started as a small passion project quickly grew a loyal following.
A New Chapter
Wise Boys now enters an exciting new chapter under the ownership of May Khin. Passionate about great food and hospitality, May is committed to building on the strong foundations created by the founders while continuing to grow the brand.
Her focus is simple – keep the food bold and delicious, and make plant-based burgers that everyone can enjoy, whether they're vegan or not.
The journey is just getting started.
PERMANENT STORES & SUPERMARKET SHELVES
In 2019, Wise Boys opened its first permanent store in the heart of Grey Lynn. A year later, the brand expanded to Downtown Auckland with a second store at Commercial Bay, bringing its bold plant-based burgers to the centre of the city.
As the popularity of Wise Boys grew, so did the opportunity to bring the flavours beyond the restaurants. Today, Wise Boys patties, sauces and dressings can be found in supermarkets and specialty stores across New Zealand, making it easier for people to enjoy the Wise Boys experience at home.
AWARD-WINNING FOOD
It's not just our customers who've shown us love; the sustainability focus meant Wise Boys has been a finalist in the Sustainable Business Network Awards, and the products have won a huge number of accolades in the Outstanding Food Producer Awards, NZ Artisan awards, and the Food Awards.
It's a simple mission really: good food that's good for the planet. Yum.
